Your child and his/her progress is very important to us and we look forward to your help and support to make your child’s experience at Willsden Primary School successful and rewarding.
You are encouraged to discuss any matters of concern to you or your child with the Class Teachers, Aboriginal Education Team, School Counsellor, Deputy Principal or Principal. Making an appointment is encouraged to ensure quality time for the meeting.

Lunches are eaten in the classroom. Canteen orders may be made in classrooms at the beginning of the day. If you wish your child to go home or leave the school, they must have daily written permission.

VOLUNTEERS/HELPERS
Please feel free to contact the school if you wish to be involved in supporting student learning, Governing Council or the Canteen . Teachers are also always appreciative of your time to help with classroom activities and listening to student's read. Please approach your child’s teacher.
ASSEMBLIES
Assemblies are held on alternate Wednesday mornings at 9.00 am in the School's Activity Room. Each class within the school takes turns to present the Assembly to the School. Awards and items are presented at this time. Parents are encouraged to attend and stay for morning tea and support classroom programs afterwards.
NEWSLETTER
All families receive a newsletter once a fortnight on a Thursday's. The Newsletter has a lot of important information for families about what is happening at school and special dates to remember. Please take the time to read carefully.
Governing Council
The Governing Council is a group of elected Parents and Staff who meet monthly to discuss matters relating to the implementation of Partnerships 21. Meeting times are advertised in the Newsletter.
OTHER SCHOOL PROGRAMS
The interesting and varied classroom programs are supported with: -The latest Information Technology - Aboriginal Languages - Music - SAPSASA Sports - Student Representative Council - Peer Mediation - Community Involvement
ABORIGINAL EDUCATION TEAM
The Aboriginal Education Team support students in classes with Literacy and Numeracy programs, and assist with the school's Emergency Lunch Programme. They are also available to support families during meetings held at school or at home, and address your needs.
EMERGENCY CONTACTS
It is important that you complete or update and return the Emergency / Medical contact forms. If your child is ill or has an accident we need to contact you or a care giver immediately - Departmental Policy restricts the use of many First Aid procedures without Parental attendance - we are not able to supervise sick children for extended periods.
SAFETY
Students are to be picked up from the classrooms or school gate. Students who walk home are encouraged to use the pedestrian crossing on Elizabeth Tce. We are also a SUN SAFE School which means that your child/dren must wear at suitable hat or play in the shade. Hats are available from the Front Office at the School.
STAFF CAR PARK
The Staff Car Park on Roberts Tce. is for Staff and visitors only. It is not a drop off or pick up point for students as this has created near misses in the past.
ATTENDANCE
Once your child is enrolled he/she is required to attend regularly. Please contact the school when your child is away by telephone on 8642 - 2722 or a written note within two days of the absence.
DENTAL CLINIC
Your child is entitled to free dental care at the Dental Clinic on Flinders Terrace. Phone or visit the clinic to make an appointment. Phone 8648 5888
MEDICATION
Children sometimes need medication during school hours. You may:
Come to school and give it to the child yourself
Or medication will be given to your child only with a current student medication plan signed by your doctor.
No medications is to be left in the classroom or in school bags.
HEARING
If you have concerns about your child’s hearing please let the class teacher know to enable follow-up.
SCHOOL FEES
Accounts will be sent home each term. Full or part payments must be made on a regular basis. School Card assistance enquires can be made at the front office. All children are provided with a basic stationary and book package. School Fees must be paid before children are allowed to attend class camps.
SCHOOL DRESS CODE
The School Colours are Bottle Green, Gold ( Yellow ) Students are encouraged to wear the appropriate colours to school. Clothing items eg. Tracksuits, shirts etc are available at a reasonable cost from local retailers.
Every new enrolment is entitled to a school hat compliments of the School Governing Council. Replacement costs for lost hats are to be met by the family.
Students must wear a broad rimmed or suitable hat at all times or play in the shade.
